2. Use the thumbtack or pushpin to make a tiny hole in the center of the metal bottom of the can. Spin the tack in the hole to smooth the sides of the hole.

3. Cut out a circle of wax paper or tissue paper. Stretch it as tightly as possible over the open top of the short part of the can and tape it into place.

4. Place the long part of the can next to the short part. Tape the two parts of the can together so it looks like it did before you cut it.

5. Wrap aluminum foil around the can, lining up the edges with the top and bottom of the can. If there is extra foil at the top, fold it into the can. Make sure no light enters the can except through the hole in the bottom and the opening at the top.
